Welcome to the Auburn Gold Country !  Originally home to the Maidu indians , Auburn became a town in 1849 after the discovery of gold in Coloma.  With the onrush of newcomers in the area, the town quickly grew and found its place on the map in 1865 when the Central Railroad came to town.

Today, Auburn is still considered a small town with approximately 15,000 residents.   Some of its residents are employed locally, but many commute into the Sacramento area daily.

While Auburn hosts a lot of homes with traditional victorian charm, there are outlying areas where farm style ranchettes are perched atop knolls while horses roam in the pastures below.

Locally, the American River, Bear River, Rollins Lake and Folsom Lake offer boating, rafting, kayaking, fishing and swimming.  Horse enthusiasts, hikers and mountain bikers will find miles of trails available for public use.

The Sierra ski resorts are one hour away for winter skiing and snowboarding.  Auburn is below the snow line, and above the valley fog line.  At approximately 1800 feet elevation, the townfolk enjoy mountain views and forests of oaks and pines. Welcome to Auburn!  I hope to see you soon!
